The first weeks home set the tone. A Frenchie puppy needs sleep, short play sessions, a predictable potty schedule, and calm exposure to the world — not a packed social calendar on day one.
Settling in
- Keep the first few days quiet: same room at night, limited visitors
- Use a crate or pen as a safe den, not a punishment
- Potty breaks after waking, eating, and play — Frenchie pups have small bladders
Socialization (without overload)
Aim for quality over quantity: new textures underfoot, gentle handling of ears and paws, car rides, and meeting calm people. Wait on crowded dog parks until your veterinarian clears vaccines and your pup is ready.
Feeding & body condition
Follow the food plan from your breeder or vet, measure meals, and avoid free-feeding. Puppies often burn energy well, but measured portions early build habits that protect breathing and joints as they grow.
Heat & exercise
Short walks and indoor play beat long midday outings — especially in Southern California and Arizona heat. Watch for heavy panting and stop before the puppy is exhausted.
